Stevens County
Colville, the seat of Stevens County, is the largest city between Spokane and Canada. The region's cultural and economic engine is thriving community that offers art galleries, live music in the park, several music festivals and the last drive-in movie theater in Eastern Washington. Home of the Northeast Washington Fair and numerous celebrations throughout the year, this regional hub is surrounded by national forest and sparkling lakes, providing hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.
Before the Grand Coulee Dam Formed Lake Roosevelt, historic Ketle Falls served as one of the largest Native American fishing grounds in the Northwest. Today the town sports a full-service marina, a downtown revitalization project and a child-friendly interpretive center. Just a few miles upriver, the folks of Marcus host a mid-summer Muscifest and annual October Ciderfest. Here, in the country's oldest town, a giant, hand-built press pumps out 1,000 gallons of fresh apple cider during the festival. Further upriver is Northport, a sport-fishing haven nestled in the mountains near the Canadian border.
Chewelah, home of a premier Chataqua arts event, has blossomed with a golf course expansion, a casino, live theater, two museums, and airport with a 3,600 foot runway and a full-service ski resort just 10 miles east. Further south, Sprindale hosts a family event every month beginning with a Pee Wee Rodeo in May, Murder & Mayhem in a Small Town in June, Frontier Days Parade & Rodeo in July and a Motorcycle Rodeo in August.
Colville City Parks and Recreation-
Yep Kanum Park- Located between Dominion, hawthorne, Walnut and Elm streets, Yep Kanum is and 18 acre retreat. You will find it complete with BBQ's, picnic tables, and restrooms, as well as large and small shelters that are available by reservation. For recreation it sports a sand volleyball court, 3 tennis courts, 4 horseshoe pits, 2 play areas, a fire pit, swimming pool, wading pool, basketball court, and Kiwanas Little League field and concession stand. For our walkers, one lap around the outside of the park is .75 miles.
Dean Vaagan Memorial Park- Located on Silke Rd., this park has 3 excellent softball fields, 2 which are ezuiipped with lights. It also has a concession stand, picnic tables, BBQ's restrooms, play area and horshoe pits. This park is a perfect facility for a company picnic for a weekend tournament. Reservations are available.
Rotary Field- Located at Columbia and Washington streets, next to the N.E. Washington Fairgrounds. Rotary field is a hardball baseball field, with a multi-use field area.
Angus Mcdonald Park- Located at North Main and 7th Avenue, this park has a ballfield, picnic tables, play area and restrooms.
Dominion Park- Dominion park is located on Park Drive and has a play area.
Heritage Court- Located on Aster and Main Street, Heritage court is a open court with benches set among beautifully maintained flower boxes.
